I was diagnosed as an adult and to this day my parents don't know that I have ADHD or that I take meds. To my credit, I can get pretty creative in pulling one over them when I take my meds whenever I visit them!
“` Thank you, once again, for more great info! I’m so sorry about your mother; losing a parent is one of the most difficult things in life. I’m sure there is nothing I can say to help, but maybe to say that I was able to take your encouragement to ask for help when it is needed for ADHD and apply it to the loss of my father awhile back, which had me in a bad way for some time. So perhaps I’ll just remind you that if you struggle for more time than YOU feel is appropriate, then don’t forget to turn to those who love you dearly and appreciate everything you do. I can think of 584K people right off the top of my head that fit into that category, and I’m sure you have many more. Whatever you need, we are here for you! May you find a lifetime of peace in her memory.
Just lost trust in this channel because she never said whether she tried the strangers advice (meditation keeps improving my adhd everyday) and the doctor said stimulant meditation under doctor supervision addiction rate is low when everyone I know got addicted to them badly and their life is a mess. I'm so grateful I never was on stimulant medication because 2 friends of mine needed rehab to quit because of how hard it was for them to eat and sleep.
Could someone please help me. I have gone through this so many times! Almost everything constantly!! I try and relay this to my counselors and doctors and I feel like nothing ever really gets done about it. I don’t know really where to go to for help around in my area. Im from Huntsville, AL if someone could please tell me somewhere in this area I could either get help or that could direct me somewhere to get help?
Reaching out here because I can't find much info out there that isn't super confusing… has anyone else had trouble with tolerance for their medication? I can't understand how anyone stays on it for years, as I seem to build tolerance within a few days, and then to keep it working, within weeks I'm at the maximum safe dose! Even if I take days off 🙁 Would love to hear anybody's insights and experiences with this…
That bit of animation where the brain has presumably read "How To Try" and has moved on to "How To Try: Harder" feels so applicable to my life. I'm on a waiting list for ADHD/ASD assessment (12 – 18 months) and it can't come soon enough.
Thank you for this. As a parent of someone with ADHD. I have gotten a lot of shaming for giving my kid medication. Despite this, the medication changed his life so much for the better
I'm on stimulant medication, but I was 28 when I was diagnosed with ADD and Asperger's, so I didn't get the meds until as a grown-up. These pills changed my life, but some psychiatrists didn't want to prescribe them to me, because they said they're "addictive". One doctor tried to convince me to take Concerta instead of Elvanse ( Vyvanse), even though Elvanse works great for me. Because according to her, Elvanse is more addictive because it's closer to Amphetamine. I've had only two doctors who haven't been against me taking medicine that helps me. And none of the doctors ever warned me about antidepressants, even though I know from personal experience SSRIs actually are highly addictive and even change personality.
Not wrong about popping pills!!! Been doing for years and going to continue!!! Because why care what other people think if it makes you a better person!!! right ???
If you can't make the neurotransmitters yourself, store bought it is fine.
Before 2 years ago I thought It was just me but in those two years ago I learned it’s adhd and I asked my mom for a diagnosis one day she said maybe
I’m sorry for your loss

I need to hide my meds, only because people will steal it though at my school lmao

Minor thing, 'speed' actually usually refers to dextro-amphetamine, which is the recreational portion of adderall's isomer mix

I'm sure I have ADHD, but folks at home won't diagnose me ig 🤷♂️….like tf man?
It’s difficult! The doctors will NOT prescribe.
