Sleep position: DO NOT sleep on your left side. There is a valid reason. You apply pressure to the heart while on your left side and your heart rate drop as is when you are sleeping. If you have to for whatever reason. Try not to put your body weight onto that arm. At the very least it will slightly off set the pressure and make your heart not work as hard.
As for weed: It is not a gateway drug. It is however like any other drug that inhibits the person in solving ones life problems with a false sense of reality. This in turn makes the person less likely to perform well in life and it also has the the user feel like "why bother when I already feel fine" when they would not feel that way off the drug. The other problem when comparing to alcohol is this; Alcohol must be abused to become intoxicated by it. As in, you have to drinkX amount of to be impaired by it. Alcohol also does not stay in the system for longer than 24 hours. Weed on the other hand can stay in the system up to 30 days. It as a function of use impairs the brain, even when the user is not aware of the impairment. Those last 2 arguments are reason enough to put you in jail if you are high and run people over with your car. So why would anyone think it is safe to be a brain surgeon while stoned? For that matter anyone at all? You want to go in for brain surgery when your doctor is high as a kite? Would you want your loved ones? How about your 5 yo getting stoned while they are still growing and their brain is as well?
Caveat: Second hand smoke DOES the same thing as first hand: Medical fact, for every breath, you exhale aprox. 2/3 of that breath unused by your body. That is no different in reality to smoking that same joint. As for cigarettes. It is a known fact, that 2nd hand smoke is 3 times more likely to cause medical problems than the person smoking. So think about your loved ones future when they don't smoke and you are the reason they are dying.
I know I'm way too late but you shouldn't say alcohol is self deterrent. I myself struggle with it and no matter how detterent it may feel for some it is no more for others.
I was debilitated by pain and RX drugs just fogged my head and I could NOT function. Now, thanks to kratom, the past three years, I've reduced reliance on dangerous prescriptions and am a fully functioning, productive human again. Never going back.
I don't know if you ever done a video on this but I'm 64 yrs old and over weight with some muscle joint problems but I want to exercise but afraid to cause damage if not done right. any advice for us.
Hey Dr. Mike, I was wondering how many "weird" cases you've had to deal with? And by "weird", I mean diseases or afflictions that carry on or reappear in the same patient multiple times turning into chronic afflictions? I personally am a "weird" case, and I am going to school for the medical industry and was curious about how often this occurs.
In my opinion if smoking cannabis doesnβt work for you then you shouldnβt be smoking/using it, Iβve had friends who sit around all day smoking and playing video games but when I smoke I want to be active and social. Everyone is different I guess, but if it gets out of hand it isnβt a hard substance to cut back on.
Kid art on coffee cups is a good thing.
Am I crazy or does he have chest hair
Hey doc, why can your body fully recover from a broken bone, but not a twisted ankle?

A smart watch can track fitness, and fitness trackers can tell time. It's not necessary to wear both.
