  3. Marijuana is composed of 421 chemicals but the major mind – altering chemical in marijuana is THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabino). After the cultivation phase, the intensity of THC content in marijuana ranges from less than 1% to more the 30 %. The higher end of this range has been increasing considerably making it more potent and addictive in nature. The brain parts that impacts concentration, thinking, time perception, memory and sensory and coordinated movement are most affected. Chronic marijuana use has found to have strong association with increased rate of anxiety, depression and schizophrenia. An acute psychotic reaction can be the result of high doses of marijuana.
