This version of the song made me love Dan's version of JD the best, but there other reasons too. I won't go into all of them because I've already written a whole essay on it before, but just his range, and his emotions and his acting. It was just so good. And the musical version of Heathers is much more romanticised than the film, and Dan presents that in his character, whereas Ryan is more psychopathic and like the film version of JD (who is obviously amazing, but film JD doesn't really suit musical Heathers imo). There's also these tiny deatails that just make me love Dan. Like how in Our Love Is God his movements with Veronica are very possessive and almost insane, to the point where it looks like he's choking her, but in Seventeen he's much softer and if you look closely you see him kiss Veronica on the head. And in I Am Damaged he manages to express different emotions in every "Our Love Is God" line. In the first "Our Love Is God", it's soft, but sad. The second one then has a slight edge to it, as JD was expecting Veronica to sing it with him, but she doesn't. You can hear he sounds upset. Then the third sounds like he's given up thinking that she'll sing with him and the fourth is just accepting it and saying goodbye (at least that was what I got from hearing it). Just stuff like that. Ryan and Dan are both very talented but it makes me so upset that Dan gets no recognition at all; a lot of people don't even know his name. And seeing comments under clips from this performance saying stuff like "I wish Ryan was in this version", "I loved this but I wish it was Ryan". There are plenty of Ryan clips online, not to mention all of the cast recordings have Ryan in it. Dan needs to be appreciated to.
