that's how i top to but i use my finger, i only top my Haze plant's, cause if you let the indica plant just grow the main cola gets massive , and then the plant is done sooner also, but yes topping is grate for some Strains to increase yield, but that is not why i top, the sativa plant's get to tall so must be topped, i don't care about yield mainly cause i don't use a tent so i am losing light yield anyways. i built a cabinet for veg it has 6 led light rail's and i'm getting 6 more, all together its around 91 watts, but i also burnt out half the diodes, on my Mars Hydro TS 600 , so now its like 51 watts in sted of 100 and doesn't seem to get that hot now i am thinking about maybe putting that in the cabinet now with some led around it and i also have Mylar reflective mirror paper in there, that's my ghetto tent lol

Why don't you put them straight into a big pot? Is there a benefit of starting in a small pot and changing them over?
