Antimatter Propulsion – Ryan Weed, CEO of Positron Dynamics

Positron Dynamics is out to make space travel to distant stars a reality using antimatter. Antimatter is the most energy-dense material known. Positrons are the …

  1. Couldn't one position a number of such positron emitters on the way to Alpha Centauri, similarly like you have gas stations along highways, the positrons of which then would be trapped by a rocket, as fuel? May that enable you to reach Alpha Centauri even more quickly than in 40 years?

  2. Million million light years away. Contemporary period of anthropocene is just 10000 years. The speaker is just ridiculous in suggesting human civilization will travel outside solar system. DNA damage from cosmic rays will make transporting life impossible.

  3. We have and will travel faster than the speed of light , anything less and we will never leave and return within a lifetime .. even a lifetime to get anywhere is way too long .Antimatter is not the answer as a rear-end fuel. We cannot travel through the space matrix at speeds close to C, friction is the problem. We have to move space around the vehicle ! Rockets will not be feasible .. at 10% of C .. a dust spec will destroy the rocket

  4. Why time of your camera to time of your eye to time of your to time of your father mother to my time to time of objectives to time of motto to time of mistake to time of destiny to no time to time to how many days how many nights to why

  5. You could go to Mars within weeks with ion thrusters, too – or many related variants like e.g. VASIMIR, colloid ion propulsion, etc.. The technology is already out there.
I wonder why he omitted that detail.
Bad publicity strategy for his company?

  6. Imagine travelling in a rocket using antimatter, the speed would be astronomical, and running into even small pieces of space debris from the tale of an asteroid or comet, would be like hitting a freight train head on, so I think I'll stick to my number 47 bus on what's left of this planet, once they have finished raising the CO2 levels from all those dam polluting spacecraft. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

But on the plus side, the idea of sending all the world's wealthy, great and good, along with a smattering of celebrities on a one way trip to a distant solar system, does have it appeal.🤣🤣🤣🤣

  7. Using an antimatter reaction to kickoff a “main” fusion reaction seems like it would be a better idea long term. Antimatter is very difficult to produce and has to be sequestered from regular matter, so only needing a small amount to use as a antimatter spark plug seems like a good idea. And only needing a small amount of antimatter would be safer than an entire rocket full of the stuff: antimatter spaceship loses power to containment of its fuel = big boom and everyone is dead / fusion rocket with antimatter spark plug loses containment = damaged spaceship and not everyone dies

  8. Why do people always say "pure energy"? That means nothing, when annihilation occurs energy is released in the form of electromagnetic radiation, ie: photons are just quanta that carry some amount of energy. This doesn't make it any more "pure" than say kinetic energy

  9. if there was no religion, war, politics and land devided by countries we would have been living on mars alredy, its like if roman and ancient indian/chinese empire still existed

  10. We don't know about the intelligence of our human or animal or insects or plants or bacteria ancestors who lived 1.8 million years ago. It was at this point in time that a new type of stone tool hit the scene only by human and no other intelligence. How about those unknown intelligence living and not living on earth with full knowledge and control of things unknown, too, such as dark energy and anti matters etc.? Stone age is to human, only? Animals or insects or plants or bacteria who lived timeless in changing environments and ecosystems and till today and continuous as paradise (Human being expelled from paradise like "fairy tales" transformation). Time is countable and now after billions of years we, humans, as of today, In the stoned age of spacetravel (denying "fairy tales" of travel).

  11. The star is 40 odd light years away. Your tech is 10% the speed of light… tell me again how we make it in 40 years? Your smudging of the math would scare the investors. Because it's not 40.. its 400 years not a lifetime currently.
