All my times visiting Colorado and I only witnessed someone smoking cannabis in public once, and they were arrested. Only smelled it at someone's home that was using it. I did not see any billboards or overt media advertising of cannabis or products that had cannabis in it. I went to a few cannabis shops out of curiosity. You have to show ID to get let in where the cannabis is. I was impressed. As a matter of fact, I think that is the way I think tobacco and alcohol should bet sold also.
Bold face lies, here is the major issue when you visit Colorado and purchase a marijuana product your name goes into a national database and when you go back to your home state you now are unable to purchase a weapon legally as your name will pop up on the database making it illegal for the gun shop to do business with you.
Kind of made me sick and very jealous watching that guy bust up what would last me a week for one joint . That woman needs some weed . More kids are being hurt by arrest than by pot .. Way more …
The thing that gets me is all the whining at the Provincial and local levels. It's not like this cannabis legislation is coming out of the blue. Provinces should have been preparing for it long before today. And yet, some of them are saying 14 or 15 months is not enough time. Give me a break. Also they've started clamouring to the federal government for funds to help them make the transition. Never mind that the MJ sector will enhance the coffers of Provincial and local governments; perhaps considerably. And never mind that the MJ sector does and will create jobs, and that these benefits will ripple through the economy.
What about the stoners who drive, listen lady stop being disrespectful to something you don't understand and with your mentality anyone who consumed a beverage with ethanol is a drunk?
I live in Massachusetts (with my family originally from Quebec), where legalization for recreational use, as well as medicinal, took effect this past January. What has happened since then? For all intents and purposes, nothing!! Well, not exactly 'nothing.' The 'Reefer Madness' community got even more paranoid and indignant, and continues to try to stop permits for dispensaries to issue. The State Police have reportedly found a dependable, accurate test to determine whether a person is driving 'impaired' by cannabis. Other than that, though, the only other significant change is that 'crime' is down a bit, and reasonable users no longer have to be paranoid. From what I have seen and read, things are about the same everywhere marijuana has been legalized! Really, people….Reefer Madness was just a badly-made propaganda film. Try to get over it, please!
Sadly the stats do not represent reality…..now you go to the grocery store and you stand in line now with people who stink of marijuana smoking who then get in their cars and drive off. Also, we now have parks and other outdoor spaces where people are smoking, whereas before we didn't. And then there are the increases in drug trafficking arrests. The stats do not represent the reality.
This apprehension for a plant that has over 5000 years of interaction with humanity is concerning. Fear and propaganda only go so far. I'm sure Suhana has kids and is concerned that they might go down a "wrong path", or one she doesn't meticulously manicure, but her combative stance on this subject should not be the voice of CBC. If anything, mandate that every journalist invest some time looking at pro's and con's to every story they report on. A crazy idea, I'm sure, but it might actually prove beneficial…
Colorado has been a great success, we should be doing this everywhere in the USA!! Street dealers don't check ID's and offer other drugs. In a regulated environment that just doesn't happen. Nice to generate 20,000 jobs as well.
Stoners drive safely everyday. It's the novice you worry about or the people who have a cocktail of drugs inside them.

I can say from experience that……..what were we talking about? Pass me that twinkie.
Marijuana is not a drug, it's a natural plant. Been growing it for years. Where ?? Florida

Stoners driving? Talk about a loaded question. No mention of the REAL hazard on the roads, cell phones!
So, did everybody hear the man? Pot impaired driving is not a real concern.
Boy this "old lady" Reporter likes the word "Stoners" ha!

Wow, a 300% increase in emergency room visits by poisoned children doesn't move his needle. Do they pay his salary out of pot taxes?

Hi
CBC pushing the anti-weed fearmongering as usual, I see!
canada is NOT taking any lessons from colorado.
I won't leave my stash around for my kids to grab, that's my stash and it's like gold. Would you leave your advil out for a toddler to consume?
I can't believe it's taken this long to take this seriously. But i guess US policy kinda dictates our stance.
